Fast Easy Bechamel Recipes
The Bechamel is often considered the classic French white sauce. It's basically a roux of milk and flour. Most often recommended for its creamy smooth texture and versatility.
Classic Bechamel Recipe
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a heavy saucepan
Stir in 2 tablespoons flour
Stir constantly, until the paste cooks and bubbles, but not brown — about 2 minutes
Add 1 1/4 cup hot milk
Continue to stir as the sauce thickens
Bring to a boil
Add salt and pepper to taste
Lower heat, and cook, stirring for 2 1/2 minutes
Remove from heat
